Today, you are four. For four years, you’ve taught me what it’s like to wear my heart outside my body.
You’ve taught me how to be patient, how to teach, how to take a moment to breathe it all in.
You’ve shown me pure joy with each tickle and toy, and you’ve melted my heart with every “I Love You, Mommy.”
You’ve tested me, and pushed me more than I thought possible. You’ve taught me that even the bad days are still good, and that the good days are only a glimpse what’s to come.
You’ve made me laugh with your smart sense of humor.
You’ve made me cry with stories of others who’ve broken your heart.
You’ve made me proud every single day.
And now, at four, you’ve grown into such a big girl.
You do things all by yourself. You have opinions, and know right from wrong. You want to do everything on your own, as long as you know Mommy and Daddy are near by.
And you still want to cuddle.
Happy birthday, baby.
